The British heavyweight repeated his much-discussed remarks about being prepared to “kill” his opponent during a news conference in Miami on midweek.

The remarks were first made on the previous day when the boxer was questioned if he would show restraint against Paul, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming fight against the internet personality turned fighter has drawn debate over safety concerns and the physical disparity between the two competitors.

Fury Labels Joshua a “Disgrace”

Former titleholder The Gypsy King labeled Anthony Joshua a “classless loser” for his extreme language.

But Joshua, justified his mindset: “It's my job, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't comprehend it but this is what my job is. I love what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is held high, that's what's paramount, respectfully.”

He continued, “That's just the mindset we have to have as boxers. I don't know if other fighters think that way. Maybe they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a risky thing. Everything can happen.”

“You pray your opponent leaves the ring safely, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Jake Paul's Fiery Response

Jake Paul, a huge outsider in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was no less combative in his retort.

“This is a modern day gladiator sport,” he declared. “I'm prepared. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all said and done. Let's kill each other.”

AJ will face Paul, 28, at Florida's Kaseya Center in a bout many see as a glaring mismatch, with some arguing it should have been approved as an non-professional fight.

The official fight will be fought over 8 3-minute stanzas using regular ten-ounce padded gloves, with a stipulated weight limit for Joshua.

He has never fought anyone of Joshua's skill level but maintained that his rival would not underestimate him.
