🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Ignites Intense Debates Over AI Players, Experience Points, and Queue Times Over the weekend, the game developers launched a fresh game mode titled Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this option resembles the regular Breakthrough setup but includes a few notable adjustments: Every squad has just eight human participants, with the remaining filled by 32 bots. Actions done by real players grant complete experience points, while AI activities provide reduced XP. Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map. Elements like Dogtags, accolades, and stat tracking are disabled. So essentially, this mode delivers on its title: it offers a casual version of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think it's a good idea, as it gives additional choices for gamers looking for different ways to enjoy the title. But, if video games have taught us anything, it is that you can't please everyone. Which is to say, many BF6 fans are mad. Player Responses: From Fury to Support "People want real players. Avoid making the errors of your rivals," states a response to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing idea," comments a different user. At the same time, in community forums, a player notes, "It's unclear where we are headed with this game," and another lists everything they consider to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist." On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to warm up, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," reads one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this title all the time. Allow them to find a middle ground," states a different comment. A response via social media explains that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Constructive Criticisms and Community Input All that said, there are valid points to criticize the new mode. Some users have highlighted that it could increase queue times even longer for other modes due to the sheer number of options currently available. Similarly, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the current modes. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots. Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that a previous feature was meant to provide full XP, including AI matches, but that was removed when they attempted to remove bot farms from the mode. Thus Casual Breakthrough feels like the community compromising in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. A different user describes this mode as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I experienced so much fun in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?" Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made? If the development team has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Assignments that were overly hard were adjusted very quickly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode is underperforming to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
