Well, perhaps an contest for the urn in Australia where they still have a chance to secure the famous trophy following the initial matches.

That will not be happening this time, though, after a comprehensive victory by 82 runs in Adelaide put the hosts leading three-nil for the fourth successive Ashes series on Australian grounds.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have a large group flying out for the last two matches in the SCG and MCG.

There are also organized trips who will be vacationing in Australia, as well as families and friends planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The Disappointed Travelers

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are a prime example.

The four siblings had their flights and tickets secured for the fourth and fifth Tests "well ahead of time", dreaming of a long-awaited triumph.

Instead, they have watched Australia outplay the visitors in just under two weeks from their house in the north of England.

"People in the office has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"We always thought that we would have a meaningful contest by the time we arrived."

Diminishing Hope

Optimism was high concerning a potential victory of securing a first win in 15 years for a victory down under prior to the first ball.

Yet now they are looking at the possibility of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 matches when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

Alex said the "entertainment" of head coach the positive style of play in recent times had "reinvigorated" Test cricket for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had realistic outlooks for the remaining matches - and all they are requesting from the players is "some resilience".

"Every pundit points it out, but it all comes down to psychological strength. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, impractical batting," stated Rory Ryding.

"In a five-day Test match, you should dig in. Playing at deliveries 'sixth stump' areas has never featured in the coaching manuals, and that is largely because of the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

Prompted about he believed England will triumph in a Test in this contest, Sam said: "The evidence suggests the Australians are superior at the moment."

"It will require more than one player that makes a significant contribution and produces a match-winning display."

Even with the series lost, the fans are anticipating the trip.

"We are going to have a wonderful trip anyway," commented Katie Ryding. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Obviously it is unfortunate we don't have more to play for, but we have made a substantial financial commitment by now."

"We'll enjoy spending the festive season overseas. It is also mine and Rory's first time abroad at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her seasonal break.

"If all else fails, I've got golf to turn to," she finished.
