A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side Schüller, who has half a year left on her deal, is known as a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. This signing is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League team. Her exit from Bayern was expected since she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month. It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading strikers. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised. Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen the Attack The 28-year-old’s arrival should represent a significant uplift to United’s forward line. Schüller has been remarkably reliable in front of goal in Germany’s top flight. Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals. She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals. Building Momentum at Carrington The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club seem to be gathering positive momentum. Their recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals. In the transfer market, the winter break has brought additional activity: The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since arriving in 2023. On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official commented: “She has become a critical component to the way we play.
