Pep Guardiola has admitted experiencing "embarrassment" after an exchange with a TV crew member subsequent to Manchester City's 2-1 defeat away to the Magpies on Saturday.

When the match concluded, an emotional Guardiola entered the St James’ Park pitch and had heated discussions with match official Sam Barrott and Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I apologised," Guardiola stated. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, looking back. I don’t like it. I apologised after one second to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games I'm far from perfect, I make huge mistakes."

He wouldn't mind should a rival coach spoke to his players right after the final whistle. "Not if it's respectful as I do, it’s not a problem," he noted, before referencing Barrott. "He was part of it for 95 minutes, 98 minutes, he was involved. Goodness, he was involved."

Controversial Decisions

The team felt aggrieved that Barrott or the VAR denied a spot-kick for a Fabian Schär challenge on Phil Foden, and doubted if Guimarães was offside when Harvey Barnes scored Newcastle’s 70th-minute winner. Pictures published later indicate the Brazilian was onside.

He will manage of his 100th Champions League game versus Leverkusen on Tuesday. "That's impressive, showing we compete we have been there," he commented.
