The Austrian squad has announced significant changes for the 2026 F1 campaign, promoting French driver Isack Hadjar to its main squad and handing British teenager Arvid Lindblad his maiden F1 drive. The young driver, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, will be team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad VCARB. This reshuffling means Japan's Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive following a five-year stint. Who is Arvid Lindblad? The British teen participated in FP1 for the British and Mexico City Grands Prix in the current season. The youngster was identified as a potential future star by Red Bull since he was 12 years old. Regarding the team's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "appears very talented", highlighting his "raw pace". The team has had a plan for some time to ready Lindblad for his potential F1 debut in 2026, featuring appearances in F1 practice sessions at the British and Mexican races. Lindblad stated it was a "proud moment", adding: "Next season represents a massive test, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm ready to work closely with the team and rise to it. I can't wait to get started." Lindblad has taken two races in F2 this year and is sixth in the standings heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi. A Major Opportunity for Hadjar The French driver celebrates his maiden top-three finish in F1, achieved at the Dutch Grand Prix this season. Hadjar's F1 career began on a low note when he crashed during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. However, since then, he has been one of the most impressive rookies this season. His performances featured an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies in tenth place in the drivers' standings. The team principal said: "Hadjar has displayed great maturity and proved to be a quick learner. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can excel next to Max." The promoted driver called it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "prepared". Lawson Retains His Seat For the seat at the junior team, Red Bull have preferred Lawson over Tsunoda. The New Zealander started 2025 with the main team but was moved back early in the year. He has settled back in at the junior outfit with some strong performances, convincing Red Bull he deserves another season. The Japanese driver, meanwhile, has been ejected after a difficult season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has scored a minor percentage of the team's points total. These announcements mean that there is also no place on the Red Bull programme for Irish driver Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
