Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with performances like these.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
